Gundam Astray Red Frame - Perfect Grade

The Astray Red Frame is my most-favorite Gundam design, so I am completely thrilled about the forthcoming Perfect Grade kit.

The only bummer is that it doesn't come with the flight pack. That would make the kit just about perfect...

Since I'm too lazy to paint models - especially one as complex as a Perfect Grade - I may go with the quick 'n' dirty method and sand the armor panels with fine-grit sandpaper to give it a matte look. Unless someone has a better recommendation for giving models a matte surface without too much fuss?

Hi Keith!

The best thing I can offer is getting a can of Testors "Dulcote", a water thin flat varnish that will give the plastic the flat finish you are after. Gunze Sangyo makes a topcoat as well which is a true matte finish (a touch of gloss to it) which might be mroe to scale and suit your requirements. Both are pretty easy to use and given how thin they are (unless you REALLY spray it on thick) are easy to handle.
